Roberts does an excellent job of creating tension while giving Arden's emotional recovery room to breathe. Rather than making her simply a victim running from danger, the story becomes as much about reclaiming independence and trust as it is about surviving a threat. The developing relationships and small-town setting add warmth that balances the darker subject matter.

And underneath it all is an unsettling reminder: sometimes danger doesn't announce itself as danger. Sometimes it arrives smiling, holding your book, asking for an autograph.

The Final Target is an absorbing blend of psychological suspense, romance, and resilience that kept me invested in Arden's journey and anxious to discover how it would end.
